OBJECTS:

To promote social inclusion for the public benefit in the Bideford Area of Torridge.

To relieve the needs of those people who are socially excluded and to assist them to integrate into society.

These objects will be achieved by applying Christian principles in : -

  • meeting people at their point of need.
  • taking a non-judgemental, non-discriminatory approach.
  • adopting a holistic approach to the social, emotional, practical, educational, financial and spiritual needs of people at the margins of society.
  • promoting self-respect and self-worth.
  • working with and providing access to relevant local organisations and agencies.
  • giving voice to the marginalised in appropriate forums

For the purpose of this clause, “socially excluded” means being excluded from society, or parts of society, as a result of one or more of the following factors : -

unemployment, homelessness, financial hardship, youth or old age, ill health (mental or physical), substance abuse or dependency, including alcohol and drugs, discrimination on the grounds of sex, race, disability, ethnic origin, religion, belief, creed, sexual orientation, poor educational or skills attainment, relationship and family breakdown, poor housing (that is housing that does not meet basic habitable standards), crime (either as a victim of crime or as an offender rehabilitating into society).

In the furtherance of these objects but not otherwise, the trustees shall have power : -

 To establish or secure the establishment of a community centre and to maintain or manage or co-operate with any statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a centre for activities promoted by the charity in furtherance of the above objects.
